One of the ways our lives changed after having a baby was at mealtime. Before our first daughter was born, my husband and I went out to eat all the time. Once she was born, we scaled back our restaurant outings quite a bit and mainly cooked at home or ordered takeout. When we started to venture out to restaurants again, the experience had changed. We never knew if we would be able to stay the whole meal or if we’d need to grab some to-go boxes and head out early.
Over the course of my daughter’s first two years, we’ve tried a number of products at mealtime. I’ve included a list of my favorite products to use whether at home or at restaurants.
ciao! Baby Portable High Chair – Hands down, our favorite mealtime product! It’s a portable high chair, and we took it everywhere including restaurants, hotels, and grandparents’ houses. It’s such a great product because it’s so lightweight and convenient. Our daughter had an easier time sitting in it than the restaurant high chairs, and using it also eliminated the germ factor. Also, its built-in table piece made it easier for her to eat when she wasn’t yet eating from plates. Any time we used the chair in public, we had so many people ask us where we got the ciao! Baby high chair. We highly recommend it!
Graco Blossom 4-in-1 Seating System – This high chair has been great to use at home. It has four different modes: highchair, infant feeding booster, toddler booster, and youth chair. The different modes allow your child to continue using it as he/she grows. They also enable you to seat two children at the same time. For example, you can use the toddler booster and the high chair simultaneously. Another feature I like is the removable tray. You can easily remove the top portion of the tray to allow for easy cleaning in the sink or dishwasher.
Playtex Baby Lil’ Sipsters Straw Cup – We have tried so many different cups for our daughter, and this one is our favorite. We use these at home and on the go because they are durable and don’t leak. They are also BPA free.
Summer Infant Tiny Diner Portable Placemat – We love the Tiny Diner Placemat for so many reasons. We used it all the time at restaurants once my daughter began sitting in high chairs because it provided a clean surface. The built-in scoop helped to prevent food from falling into her lap or onto the floor, and it was super easy to fold up and keep in the diaper bag. It’s also dishwasher safe and BPA free.
Biodegradable Table Topper Disposable Stick-on Placemats – For the times when a disposable placemat is needed, these biodegradable stick-on placemats are great. In addition to using them at restaurants, they are also great for airplane tray tables.
Munchkin Soft-Tip Infant Spoons – These infant spoons were perfect when our daughter was learning to take solids because they are soft and gentle on baby’s gums.
Gerber Graduates Kiddy Cutlery Forks in Assorted Colors – I like these forks because the stainless steel tips make it easier for toddlers to actually pierce the food. The soft handles are the perfect size for toddlers, and of course, they are dishwasher safe and BPA free.
Happy Baby Organic Puff Variety Pack – We introduced Puffs when our daughter began taking solids after 6 months of age. They helped her to learn how to feed herself and are wonderful because they dissolve quickly. They quickly became her favorite snack!
Munchkin Snack Catchers – I love these snack cups for breakfast on the go. For the mornings we head out early and don’t have time for a sit-down breakfast, I put some small waffle or French toast pieces in the snack cup. She is able to eat while we are getting ready or even in the car. This is a big help and a timesaver.
Babyganics Alcohol-Free Foaming Hand Sanitizer – This convenient hand sanitizer is great to use both at home and on the go.
