When we started preparing for the arrival of our second daughter, we not only thought about the nursery but also things to set up around the house. I found these products especially helpful when our first daughter came home, and then I have two new products that I have already grown to love with baby girl #2.
Graco DuetSoothe Swing and Rocker – We really like this swing because of its versatility… You can switch swinging directions and easily remove the seat from the swing to use it as just a rocker, which we did all the time. There are multiple speeds, and it has a cute mobile to entertain.
Fisher-Price Newborn Rock ‘n Play – One of our favorites! My daughter loved the Rock ‘n Play… It just looks comfortable! I think she liked the incline, and I like how lightweight it is and how easy it is to move from room to room. We took this with us whenever we’d go to the grandparents’ houses too, and she loved to hang out in it and nap. It was helpful at night when she had trouble sleeping… I would rock her in it until she fell asleep and then place her in the bassinet.
Bassinet – I borrowed the Graco Travel Lite Crib/Bassinet from my brother to use as a bassinet with our first daughter. It stayed at our bedside most of the time, but we occasionally moved it around the house if she was napping in another room. It worked pretty well, but bending over and reaching for her during the night for feeds was rough on my back night after night. For baby girl #2, we are unable to borrow it again because my brother and his wife just had a baby girl, so they are using it. I did some research and heard great things about Arm’s Reach products, so this time I am using the Arms Reach Clear-Vue Co-Sleeper Bassinet. It is much easier on my back as it has leg extensions that enable the height to be adjusted to a convenient height with our bed. The side rail also can be folded down for extra convenience. There is a huge storage basket underneath and storage pockets on both ends. I store diapers in one of the side pockets for easy access during nighttime diaper changes. The bassinet can be attached to the bed to keep it from moving away for extra safety. When not attached to the bed, it can be moved around the house as it has wheels.
Skip Hop Alphabet Zoo Activity Gym – Perfect for tummy time, the Skip Hop Alphabet Zoo Activity Gym is fun and convenient to have around the house. There are parts of the quilted mat that squeak, crinkle, and flap, and it’s made of multiple fabrics to keep babies entertained. The mobile portion also detaches making it very easy to take just the mat along with you or to wash. My daughter loved looking at all the animals, and we eventually bought the Skip Hop Alphabet Zoo Activity Mirror to go along with it.
Leachco Podster Sling-Style Infant Seat Lounger – This is the second new product we are trying out with baby girl #2. We have the one in pink pin dot and have been using it since baby girl #2 arrived… We love it! It has an incline, and it looks super comfortable. She enjoys lounging in it, and the outer cover can be washed.
Babyganics Alcohol-Free Foaming Hand Sanitizer – I like to have these all around the house, especially during the newborn stage… Living room, kitchen, nursery… Having them out makes it convenient for us and family and friends to sanitize their hands before holding her. I also purchase refills as needed.
